Antler Chews for Dogs
All of our antlers are naturally shed, Grade A quality, and sourced right here in the United States. Grade A antlers are shed within the most recent “shed season” and collected within a short time of being dropped. We are fanatical (and proud!) of the quality of our antlers. Every single antler we procure has been hand inspected to make sure your pup gets the absolute best.
All of our antlers are sourced from right here in the United States. Our elk and deer antlers come from Colorado and the neighboring Rocky Mountain states, and our moose antlers are sourced from Alaska. Every antler we purchase is carefully inspected for quality, so your pup only gets the absolute best quality antler chew available.
Elk, deer, and moose antlers are a 100% natural and renewable resource that are also great for your pup. With that in mind, we do not use any chemicals in our process. We simply cut our antler chews to size, sand the rough edges, and ship them off to our customers.
Whether you choose Whole Elk, Split Elk, Deer, or Moose for your pup, chewing antlers provides many benefits to dogs; it offers mental stimulation while exercising the jaw muscles. It cleans teeth effectively by scraping each tooth and loosening plaque and tartar build up. All of our antlers are 100% natural, odor-free and are long lasting. They are also full of many essential minerals such as calcium, zinc, glucosamine and magnesium.
Antlers are an all-natural treat for your pup and are full of essential minerals that are great for their overall health. Antlers are made up of approximately 40% protein and have very little fat. Minerals such as iron, zinc, calcium, and phosphorus are beneficial for joint and immune system health, and also great for your dog’s skin and coat.
Antler Types
RidgeRunner Antlers offers a variety of antler types that are great for every pup in your household. Depending on your dog’s chewing habits, we provide antlers that range from less dense (moose paddles and split elk antlers) to extra dense (moose tines and deer antlers) to keep your pup busy. Our website has a handy guide to find the right chew based on your dog’s size and chewing style.
Whole Elk antlers are the perfect "go to" chew with lots of delicious marrow inside and have a less dense outer core. Great for moderate chewers.
Split Elk antlers are either half or quarter split, which makes them less challenging for pups to get to the delicious nutrient-rich marrow that lies inside.
Deer antler chews are denser than Elk and have less marrow and a thicker outer core which makes them great for very hard chewing breeds.
Moose antler chews come in 3 variations to meet the chewing habits of all dogs. From softest to most challenging: Paddle, Split, and Tine.
Depending on your dog’s chewing temperament, RidgeRunner Antlers offers your pup a wide selection of antler chews. Split antlers have exposed marrow on multiple sides, making it easier for your dog to get to the delicious marrow inside. Split antlers are great for puppies and dogs that are lighter and occasional chewers. However, split antlers will not last very long for tough chewers. For the more enthusiastic chewers in your pack, we recommend whole antlers, which are longer-lasting and pose more of a chewing challenge for your pup.
Antlers and Puppies
Yes! Antlers are a great way to keep your puppy occupied and out of trouble. Unfortunately, we cannot promise your shoes, chair legs, and hands will be spared from those sharp little puppy teeth, but an antler chew is a great way to redirect your pups chewing attention to something more appropriate. Softer antlers with lots of marrow such as quarter Split Elk antlers and Moose paddles are best for young pups until all the adult teeth have grown in fully.
We typically recommend letting dogs chew on an antler chew for 15 to 20 minutes a few times per day. We find that giving your dog an antler chew keeps them occupied while you are trying to get things done around the house or office, and also reduces stress when they are taken out of their normal routine.
Antlers chews can last many weeks if not months when the correct chew is purchased. If you have an extremely vigorous chewer, we suggest sizing-up so the antler lasts longer for your pup. A smaller dog can always handle a larger chew, but an undersized antler for a larger more aggressive chewer will not last very long.
To avoid a choking hazard, we suggest replacing your pup’s antler with a new one once it becomes small enough to fit fully in their mouth. If you have an antler that your pup has lost interest in, try soaking it overnight in some broth which will reactivate the flavor and hopefully get your dog excited about it again.
